Stress relief.
It was a natural reaction to a shift of monitoring a dormant anomaly. So Ryan didn't admonish Blade when he noticed the young man packing a snowball in his gloved hands. Nor did he warn Kermit before Blade pegged him in the head with said snowy missile. He stayed out of the way as the men embarked into a full-fledged snowball fight, allowing himself a chuckle at their expense. However, he had to draw a line when both men advanced on him, loaded for bear.
"Lads, I have a gun and I know how to use it."
