Though Charlotte knew she would be exhausted come morning, she fought against sleep, wanting to savour what was a rare moment.
Her Ethan, sound asleep, the lines of his face smoothed to softness under her fingers.
She knew what it meant for him, the dreamlessness allowing him some moment's peace, but she could only appreciate what it meant for her.
A day or two, if she were so blessed, when she herself could rest and not fret about keeping his demons at bay.
With a yawn, she finally allowed herself to close her eyes, snugged against him in the dark.
